Relate Uganda is involved in a number of community development activities. Its also tasked with the responsibility of matching volunteers seeking placement to relevant projects, making sure that volunteers find maximum satisfaction in dedicating their time and effort in serving the less privileged members of the community.

1. Social Centre Refurbishment

Many virtual social facilities like schools and hospitals in Uganda today are in a sorrow state due to various reasons, more especially those in rural areas. Relate Uganda through its team of committed volunteers helps raise fund and resources for the renovation/face lifting of such identified depilated structures at no cost, more especially for people and /or organizations that don’t have the means to do it themselves.

2. Community Outreach Program

Our community outreach program sensitizes the public on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention through video shows, visiting and holding awareness seminar in schools geared towards behaviour change. Since the program focuses on student community, health and sanitation awareness raising too has become an indispensable part of the program. Students are taught basic health principles and first aid skills so that they can help each other in case of an emergency.

3. Human Rights and Advocacy

Through an act of charity, we discovered that hundreds of children in Uganda are living behind bars through no fault of their own. Some of the children are orphans who have no where to call home while majority have just been abandoned, neglected and denied by their own parents, an act which actually led to their fate. Due to lack of funds and transport facilities (fuel) to take the juveniles to court, many have been forced to stay n the remand home than the speculated period of time.  It’s true that some of juveniles have conflicted with the laws of the country but we feel that justice must begin to prevail. Innocent children should be released unconditionally and their parents traced, for any possibility of family reunion and those found guilty of the various offenses should be treated with love and care like any other child in the world. Even when in custody, they should be given all the basic necessity of life ranging from enough food, shelter, bedding facilities, clothing, medication and education. An education system which will help those who have been in school not to forget or go off truck as they wait for their fate in the court of law or eventual change of behaviour.

4. Education and Training

This program focuses on linking volunteers with relevant skills in Nursery and primary school teaching, photography, filming, games and sports (Coaching) and entrepreneurship skills to potential development partners in the field.
